What Is Smart Check?

Smart Check is a fully digital replacement for paper checks that allows payers to submit check payments online in just a few clicks. With Smart Check, there's no need to mail physical checks or scan documents manually.

Instead, payers simply:

Select Smart Check as a payment method,
Upload or scan a picture of their physical check,
Submit it digitally, and
Instantly complete the payment via an ACH transfer powered by Paystand.

How It Works

Payers will receive an invoice with Smart Check as an available payment method.
They choose to scan a check using a mobile device or upload a check image from their computer.
Paystand’s platform uses the image to securely extract payment details.
The payment is processed electronically—no delays, no postage, and no manual deposit needed.
A confirmation and receipt are sent automatically.

🇨🇦 Now Available for Canadian Merchants

Smart Check now supports CAD transactions. Canadian merchants can offer their payers the same seamless check scanning experience, with payments processed as Canadian EFT (Pre-Authorized Debit).

How it works for CAD:

The payer experience is identical — scan, review, confirm, and submit.
Payments are processed as Canadian EFT instead of ACH.
Available for any Canadian merchant with CAD settlement enabled on their account.
